Our Commitment to Veterans
By David L. Althoff
The senior management team at AL Group has made a firm commitment to hire as many U.S. military veterans as possible to fill the manpower needs of our company. We believe that the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces are America's most admired and respected group of people.
There are millions of veterans who are now among the civilian population who deserve our support and assistance. Many of these veterans have embarked on a wide spectrum of civilian pursuits utilizing the lessons they learned while wearing our country's military uniforms. In the vast majority of situations, these men and women stand tall among their fellow Americans.
There is a very powerful reason why veterans are admired, respected, and sought out to fill important roles in their communities. The reason is a mystical thing called leadership. The members of our Armed Forces are required to undergo a variety of leadership training courses. These are not just single indoctrination classes but ongoing classes across many years of their careers.
Today, even the industry giants recognize the value of Armed Forces leadership training. The business world has taken military leadership principles and traits and modified them to fit their various business models. They then train their supervisors, management, and officers to apply them in the workplace.
In addition to outstanding technical training, the military instills the following traits in all officers, non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and petty officers:
- Loyalty
- Dependability
- Bearing
- Courage
- Decisiveness
- Endurance
- Enthusiasm
- Initiative
- Integrity
- Judgment
- Justice
- Knowledge
- Tact
These are the exact characteristics that our senior management looks for in our employees. We firmly believe that our veterans will exhibit these traits and characteristics while working for our company. We are dedicated to finding and hiring a majority of veterans to fulfill our manpower requirements at AL Group.
